Competitor guest-review analysis for hotels

Your own reviews tell you how you are doing. Your competitors reviews tell you how the market is moving, where the bar is set, and which gaps you can win. Reading them side by side is the fastest way to turn review text into a list of priorities.

What competitor reviews reveal that yours cannot

A guest who walks from your property to a competitor leaves the comparison in their head. Competitor reviews are where that comparison gets written down. When a competitor is repeatedly praised for something you are not, or repeatedly criticized for something you already do well, that is an opportunity or a threat you can act on.

Match the complaint type to the property type

Service complaints hit high-end properties hardest; facility complaints hit budget properties hardest (Hu et al., 2019). When you read competitor reviews, sort what you find by that lens. A maintenance complaint at a budget competitor may not matter to your boutique property, and a service complaint at a premium competitor is a direct opening.

Look for recurring patterns, not one-off gripes

One angry review is noise. The same theme in three or more independent reviews inside a year is a pattern. That is the standard GuestPrism uses, and it is what keeps a brief from overreacting to a single bad day.

See what a source-linked brief looks like

Every finding in a GuestPrism brief is tied to its source review, so you can check the evidence behind each conclusion rather than taking our word for it.

Good to know

How many competitors should I analyze?

Up to three. Three is enough to see the pattern in a market without turning the brief into a survey of everyone.

Why source-linked findings?

So you can verify. A conclusion you can trace to a specific review is one you can trust enough to act on.
